Kitesurfing is one of the newer extreme sports and is gaining in popularity by the day. Thrill seekers are taking to the waters in record numbers to try and get as much excitement possible. Kitesurfing is the sport where you strap a kitesurfing board, which resembles a wakeboard, to your feet and hold onto a bar that is attached to a
kitesurfing kite. The wind then catches the kite and pulls the rider along the ocean on his kiteboard. While a rider is being pulled along he is able to do tricks and spins when being pulled into the air by the kite. Some of the more popular tricks that riders will attempt are known as board grabs. There are many different variations and styles of board grabs and really allow for a kitesurfer to showcase his own style.
Since kitesurfers routinely reach speeds over 40
mph this creates a lot of appeal for all of the adrenaline junky extreme sport participants. There is nothing quite like travel 40
mph on the open seas with nothing but a kiteboard on your feet and a
kitesurfing kite in your hands. The unknown of which way the wind will blow you around is also an added feature that brings excitement to the sport of kitesurfing. When the winds are whipping around it makes kitesurfing that much more of a challenge and thus more exciting for the rider.
With the number of tricks limited to a kitesurfers imagination it is no wonder why extreme athletes love the sport of kitesurfing. When you throw in the high speeds of travel and great risk of injury kitesurfing quickly becomes an extreme sport favorite.
